Volkswagen Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Volkswagen is a usual mistake to make. And its remedy is based on a number of things. In case you want to find out what to do to sort it out then please read on.
Listed here are the main factors to consider when deciding on whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Petrol have you put into the Volkswagen, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Volkswagen Amarok is probably roughly 85 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Petrol, less than 4.25 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Amarok will more often than not not really be a massive problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 4.25 litres (which is close to 5% of the total fuel tank capacity) is often capable of being sufficiently diluted through totally topping up the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's pretty uncommon to encounter a car going through issues with lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it is very rare - not impossible to find. There are a few vehicles that don't endure any amount of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 4.25 and 8.5 litres of Petrol in the Volkswagen (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with this as all those who break down. When you are deciding on whether to risk it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is just like gambling everything on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything above 8.5 litres of Petrol in your Diesel Amarok must promptly be drained out as your likelihood of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is certainly below one in fifty - seriously huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Volkswagen and drove it: Have you noticed any performance troubles as a result of putting the bad fuel in your Amarok? In that case, get it removed irrespective of the amount of Petrol or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive driving a motor vehicle that is starting to suffer the effects of fuel contamination will definitely lead to progressively more damage affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Simply get it removed. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is invariably a certain level of danger linked with driving a Diesel motor on Diesel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible results of driving on the wrong fuel normally include the motor not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, etc. These are several of the most typical Petrol in Diesel signs and symptoms, and if you recognise any of them stop and get it drained as soon as possible.

Do not just have any general so-and-so to attend your car. We are Volkswagen specialists and have got the qualifications and experience needed to make sure that you get back on the road with a minimum of hassle or worry.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
