Renault Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Petrol in a Diesel Renault is a fairly typical mistake. And exactly what you need to do about it depends on a few things. Assuming you would like to know what you should do to sort it out then stay with me.
Right here are the most crucial variables to be aware of whenever choosing whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Petrol did you put in to the Renault, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the Renault Scenic dCi is probably about 60 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Petrol, something like 3 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Scenic dCi will in most cases not be a huge problem. Experience has proven to us that anything under 3 litres (approximately 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is quite often capable of being adequately diluted through totally filling the remainder of the tank with Diesel.
It is extremely unusual to find a motor vehicle having issues due to below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Remember that it is very infrequently found - certainly not impossible to find. There are a number of automobiles that won't endure any degree of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 3 and 6 litres of Petrol in the Renault (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our practical experience has confirmed that as many motorists get away with this as all those who don't. Whenever you are figuring out whether or not to chance it and basically top it up recognise that it is much like betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 6 litres of Petrol in a Diesel Scenic dCi must straightaway be drained out seeing that your likelihood of driving with that level of contamination is in all likelihood less than one in fifty - seriously long odds.
  2. Put some Petrol in a Diesel Renault and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance difficulties as a result of putting the bad fuel in the Scenic dCi? If you have, get it emptied no matter the quantity of Petrol or the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive running a vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination can only bring about more harm being done to the fuel system parts.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Then simply just get it drained. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is inevitably some amount of risk resulting from running a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible implications of driving on the wrong fuel normally include the engine not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, etc. These are a few of the most typical Petrol in Diesel signs or symptoms, and if you observe any of them then stop and get it drained as soon as possible.

Steer clear of having any jack-of-all-trades to try to drain your vehicle. We are Renault specialists and have the skills and working experience needed to make certain you get back on the road with little hassle or trouble.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Diesel car on Petrol cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Petrol can I get away with in a Diesel car?

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Diesel and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
