Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes is a common mistake to make. And exactly what you need to do about it depends upon various factors. If perhaps you would like to find out what you have to do to sort it out then keep reading.
Right here are the main factors to take into account whenever deciding whether or not to get it drained:

  1. What amount of Petrol did you put in the Mercedes, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Mercedes B200 CDI is normally about 54 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Petrol, less than 2.7 litres of Petrol in a Diesel B200 CDI will generally not be a major problem. Experience has taught us that an amount under 2.7 litres (roughly 5% of the fuel tank capacity) is very often capable of being completely diluted by completely topping the tank with Diesel.
It is very rare to encounter a car experiencing issues with below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Please remember it's unusual - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are actually a few cars that will not endure any amount of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Between 2.7 and 5.4 litres of Petrol in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our practical experience has shown that as many drivers get away with it as all those who don't. Any time you are deciding whether or not to risk it and just simply top it up consider that it is exactly like betting all of it on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything above 5.4 litres of Petrol in your Diesel B200 CDI should really as soon as possible be drained out seeing that your likelihood of driving with that quantity of contamination is in all likelihood lower than one in 50 - really huge odds.
  2. Put Petrol in a Diesel Mercedes and drove it: Have you observed any performance difficulties as a result of putting the bad fuel in your B200 CDI? If so, have it emptied irrespective of the quantity of Petrol or the contamination ratio. Continually driving a motor vehicle that is beginning to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will probably typically bring about increasing amounts of harm being caused to your fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for reassurance?
Simply get it emptied. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some degree of risk associated with operating a Diesel engine on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible consequences of driving a car on the incorrect fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, loss of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most common Petrol in Diesel warning signs, and should you notice any of them stop and get it drained as soon as possible.
