Toyota Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Toyota is a common error. And its solution depends on several different things. If you want to find out what you need to do about it then keep reading.
Here are the main variables to keep in mind whenever determining whether or not to get it drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put in the Toyota, considering that the fuel tank capacity of your Toyota Picnic is probably around 60 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, as little as 3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Picnic will quite often not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has shown us that anything less than 3 litres (close to 5% of the fuel tank) is sometimes able to be completely diluted by thoroughly topping up the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It is extremely unusual to come across an automobile having difficulties with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is uncommon - not impossible to find. There are actually a number of vehicles that won't endure any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 3 and 6 litres of Diesel in the Toyota (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has shown us that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. When trying to decide whether to chance it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is exactly like betting everything on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything above 6 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Picnic should promptly be drained seeing that your probability of driving with this quantity of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in fifty - really big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Toyota and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance troubles since putting the bad fuel in your Picnic? In that case, get it emptied regardless of the volume of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continually running a car that is now starting to suffer the effects of fuel contamination will just cause increasing amounts of damage being done to your fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like assurance?
In that case get it emptied. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably a certain level of threat resulting from operating a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable consequences of driving a car on the incorrect fuel include things like the engine not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, etc. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and should you recognise any of them then stop driving and have it drained right now.

Avoid getting any unqualified mechanic to attend your car. We are Toyota experts and have the credentials and experience necessary to make certain you get back on the road with little hassle or worry.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
