Subaru Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Subaru is a fairly typical mistake. And its solution depends upon an assortment of things. If perhaps you want to know what you need to do about it then stay with me.
Let us discuss the key variables to keep in mind when deciding whether to get your car drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put in the Subaru, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Subaru B9 Tribeca is most likely approximately 64 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, something like 3.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol B9 Tribeca will typically not really be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that anything less than 3.2 litres (almost 5% of the fuel tank capacity) is in many instances capable of being sufficiently diluted by thoroughly topping the rest of the tank with the right fuel.
It's rather uncommon to come across a car or truck going through issues due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's unusual - in no way impossible to find. There are actually certain automobiles that won't endure any amount of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 3.2 and 6.4 litres of Diesel in the Subaru (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with it as those who break down. When you are deciding whether to risk it and just top it up recognise that it is just like gambling all of it on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 6.4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol B9 Tribeca should really promptly be drained out since your likelihood of getting away with that amount of contamination is very likely less than one in 50 - extremely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Subaru and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance concerns since putting the bad fuel in your B9 Tribeca? In that case, have it emptied irrespective of the amount of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive running a vehicle that is beginning to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination will definitely be responsible for progressively more damage affecting the fuel system.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
In that case get it drained. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of risk caused by operating a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable implications of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them then stop and get it removed immediately.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
