BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a usual mistake to make. And its remedy depends on several things. If you want to know what you ought to do about it then please read on.
Listed here are the main variables to think about whenever choosing whether or not to get your car drained:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel did you put in to the BMW, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of your BMW Z3 is in most cases roughly 51 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, as little as 2.55 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Z3 will in most cases not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has shown us that an amount under 2.55 litres (which is 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is usually capable of being adequately diluted through thoroughly topping the tank with Petrol.
It's highly uncommon to find an automobile suffering from difficulties because of under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Remember that it is infrequent - not impossible to find. You can get certain motor vehicles that won't endure any amount of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 2.55 and 5.1 litres of Diesel in the BMW (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has demonstrated that as many people get away with this as those who break down. When figuring out whether or not to risk it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is much like betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 5.1 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Z3 should as soon as possible be drained out as your probability of driving with that amount of contamination is probably below one in 50 - definitely big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you observed any performance issues ever since putting the incorrect fuel in the Z3? If you have, have it drained regardless of the quantity of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Still driving a vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will typically result in increasing amounts of damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like assurance?
Simply get it removed. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some degree of risk linked with operating a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Likely outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are some of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and should you notice any of them then stop driving and get it drained immediately.
